Providing Multi-Dimensional Healthcare
Physician Assistants are an incredibly integral component in the healthcare field! They are versatile “doers” that thrive in complex, multi-disciplinary environments. Physician Assistants are notorious for wearing multiple hats, excelling in a variety of medical specialties. Here at EMU, we don’t focus on producing ordinary Physician Assistants; rather, we develop highly respected ambassadors of the PA profession who promote health.
Most of us have received care from a Physician Assistant at some point in our lives. Whether it was in a doctor’s office, hospital or clinic, these hard-working, well-trained individuals provide almost all of the services that a physician can provide. This includes performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and prescribing medications. Our accredited PA program will help to prepare and empower you as you join the next generation of healthcare providers.
At Eastern Michigan University, we offer a graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies. This program was developed in 2012 to help accommodate the rising interest and demand for PAs in the industry.
Why Study at EMU:
We are helping to grow multi-talented professionals that will flourish within the healthcare industry. Here are some other benefits to studying in our PA program.
- We recognize that students don’t all learn the same way, so we offer multi-faceted teaching styles. The program combines interactive lectures with a clinical focus, small group interactions, hands-on practical training, out of classroom learning and high fidelity medical simulation.
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the number of PAs will increase 38% between 2012 and 2022 (much faster than average).
- Classes are taught in the newly renovated, multi-million dollar Rackham Building. This building provides numerous functional spaces for learning along with the cutting-edge technology needed to accomplish it.
