Drug and Medical Device Development: Clinical Research Administration
Clinical research professionals are the individuals who design, conduct and supervise the final human testing of the drug and device development processes. They work in academic medical centers, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries as well as in government agencies (eg. FDA) that regulate the testing and new product approval process.
Clinical Research Administrators play a vital role in this process. The EMU CRA program:
- provides an academic experience which includes both didactic information and hands-on preceptorships in order to provide qualified new personnel to the drug and device industries, and
- provides an opportunity for professionals currently participating in the drug/device development process to increase their knowledge base as well as their research/creative skills.
Whether your abilities lie in the basic sciences, patient care, data analysis or medical and regulatory writing, you should consider a career in Clinical Research Administration.
We currently offer two graduate level programs:
- The Graduate Certificate in Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) provides the core competencies and entry level skills necessary to enter the field of clinical research.
- The Master of Science in Clinical Research Administration (CRAD) provides advanced knowledge and facilitates upward professional mobility. This degree also provides an opportunity for practicing health professionals (e.g., clinical nurse specialists, clinical laboratory scientists, pharmacists) to change careers and continue to utilize their current skills.
Why should you study at EMU?
EMU developed one of the first university-based programs that gave academic credit for training in the field of clinical research. We have recently been named the #1 program in the country!
