Making Everyday Life Accessible to All
Sometimes we can take for granted how easy it is for us to complete everyday tasks where we live, work and play. Developing the skills needed to do these seemingly “mindless” tasks is where occupational therapists can make a large impact.
When you are unable to complete what would seem like a simple task, you can feel defeated, useless and disheartened. You may have experienced this yourself or have witnessed someone else going through this type of frustrating situation. An Occupational Therapist can give this person the skills and tools that they need to accomplish this task within their own means, regardless of their age and abilities. Occupational Therapy helps to empower people to be independent without having to rely on someone else to do something for them.
At EMU, when you major in Occupational Therapy, you will learn the skills needed to understand your patients’ pain points, what they struggle with, and how you can facilitate the tools needed to accomplish those tasks. As Occupational Therapists, you have the ability to make an impact in a variety of public health settings, from hospitals, private residences, schools, rehabilitation centers, independent living centers and early childhood education programs.
We offer excellent undergraduate and graduate programs for Health Science students looking to directly improve the quality of everyday life for people.
